of Prayer and Fasting
Why Pray?
Prayer is mentioned more than 500 times in Scripture. Throughout the life of Jesus, we see Jesus in prayer with our heavenly Father. Prayer was the foundation of his life here on Earth. If prayer was integral to him, how much more must it be integral for us?
Prayer is simply the medium through which we communicate and commune with God. The practice of prayer is learning to set aside time to intentionally be with God. We believe prayer is our first response, not our last resort.
Why Fast?
Fasting is the act of choosing to abstain from food for a period of time. When we fast, we are practicing spiritual discipline by sacrificing one of our most essential daily routines. Fasting is an opportunity not to get from God, but to get to know God.
There are different types of fasting, and we recommend prayerfully considering which practice is best for you at this time.
Concecration
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I consecrate this time of fasting to you. I commit to fast from [what] for [length of time]. I lay all my fears and anxieties at your feet, trusting you to sustain me throughout this time. I will live by the Word of God and listen for your voice. My intentions and prayer requests for this fast are: [make a list]. I submit these to you, along with the process of fasting, and thank you for being with me. I praise you in advance for the breakthrough and healing found only in you. In Jesus name, Amen.
